Our
Services
Carpentry
Carpentry is the original Ridgway trade. We install and build custom cabinets, bookcases, fireplace mantels and more.
CROWN MOLDINg
Whether it’s antique or new, traditional or modern, crown molding is an art that requires attention to detail. We pay very close attention to detail and get tight miters and copes on every joint.
Baseboard
When it comes to baseboard BIGGER the better I always say. One thing to keep in mind though is that the inside corners need to be coped. Which for hundreds of years has been done by hand. Until now. I am the first in the Ridgway family that no longer has to cope baseboard by hand thanks to innovation. We use a coping jig and router which makes each cope perfect and is fast no matter how extravagant the molding.
Framing
The first 3 generations of Ridgway's that were carpenters and generations before you would frame the house and trim the house. Which is ultimately how you control the quality of the finished product. So when you do the finish carpentry you have square and straight walls to install cabinetry and run your moldings. Today their are very few that will frame and trim the house. We are the exception our carpenters will do both the framing and finish carpentry work on all our projects.
Siding and windows/doors
A lot has changed with siding products and installation methods. We are not installing windows and siding as they used to be installed 15 years ago. We are installing them according to today's manufactures specifications. Using high quality cutting edge products.
General Contracting
If you have a job including other services than we perform. We have sub contractors that we work with regularly to complete your job. We will give information to our sub contractors and include their work in a upfront price to you including all expenses.
Licensed and insured
5th generation construction is a licensed contractor with the state of Iowa. 5th generation is insured by Farm Bureau with a million dollar liability policy. 5th generation construction will pull building permits as required by city.
We require that all our subs be licensed and insured and pull permits as required.
Decks
Decks can be a great place, or they can be a nuisance. The key is to know which decking material is for you. If properly cleaning and finishing a wood deck is not your cup of tea then we recommend not using wood as your decking and railing materials. There are great decking materials including composite, composite wrapped in PVC, and %100 PVC decking. There are also great matching handrails to go with these decking materials. Or you can have your handrail be a accent by going with a Aluminum powder coated hand rail. Which is a very nice contrast.
Tile and stone
Tile has really come a long ways. From heated floors to porcelain tile that appears as real wood to glass tile that makes you look in awe. Stone also has come a long ways. For many it is difficult to tell the difference between cultured stone and natural stone. Also natural stone now comes in veneer making it cheaper to buy and install. On any project tile and stone is always a great idea to incorporate.
